Flat Holm Island, a Cardiff Council-owned nature reserve just 4 miles off the South Wales coast, is now greener than ever thanks to Lorne Stewart Engineering. Our recent delivery of PV solar technology is a key part of Cardiff Council’s One Planet Cardiff initiative, tackling climate change head-on. This installation has significantly reduced the island’s CO2 emissions through reduced use of diesel generators.
Domonic Bliszko, our Small Works Manager, shared insights into the unique challenges of the project: “Working on a remote island brought its own set of logistical hurdles. From managing transportation of equipment to ensuring the team operated safely and efficiently in such isolated conditions, every step required meticulous planning. Our engineers rose to the occasion, adapting to the challenges and delivering a solution that truly makes a difference for the environment.”
