Lorne Stewart Facilities considers that health and safety and the impact we have on the environment is of paramount importance to the company achieving consistent high standards in all its activities. It is therefore our policy to develop a health, safety and environmental awareness culture throughout the company which is committed to taking all reasonable precautions for the prevention of injuries and ill health to our employees, sub-contractors and others who may be affected by our work activities.
We proactively work with all stakeholders including clients, designers, contractors, supply chain and the workforce to make Zero incidents a reality by: Addressing health and safety issues in a timely manner; Developing a pro-active approach to health and safety; Establishing a culture of acceptance of target Zero as normal working practice; Developing an acceptance within the working environment to act safely at all times in achieving our goal of a target Zero workplace.
We take health and safety issues extremely seriously and have a proven track record of doing so. This is demonstrated by our year on year improvement of the Groups accident frequency rate. Lorne Stewart Group has been awarded the RoSPA Gold Medal (six consecutive Golds) Award 2024, recognising our continued commitment to our outstanding health, safety and wellbeing culture.
Lorne Stewart Facilities recognises the importance of environmental awareness and environmental issues which are essential to sustainable development. The Company further believes that the keeping in balance of the environment and environmental resources will subsequently lead to healthier and more acceptable conditions for work and social activity. To this end, the Company will take responsibility for its environmental impacts and is committed to continually improving its environmental performance and using sustainable resources.
We will: Ensure compliance with Environmental Acts and associated statutory instruments as a minimum standard for performance in all countries in which it operates; Review the environment policy of the Company, its procedures and performance on an annual basis; Liaise with our clients on potential environmental issues and work with them to address concerns; Conserve energy through minimising consumption and maximising efficiency; Control and minimise the use of materials which may be harmful to the environment; Manage materials so as to minimise the production of waste and implement waste management practices that meet the requirements of the ‘Duty of Care’.
