Hengrove Leisure Centre

Lorne Stewart Engineering were engaged provide the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for this new leisure centre on the outskirts of Bristol. The development comprised of a 50 metre international swimming pool, learner pool, four court sports hall, café, healthy living zone, 150 station gym, two group fitness studios, dedicated spinning studio, crèche, health suite and indoor climbing wall.

The Cutty Sark Conservation Project

Completed in 2012 the masterfully restored Cutty Sark cargo ship is displayed by the National Maritime Museum near the centre of Greenwich in South East London. Visitors can now visit the historic vessel and take a journey through time as the ship’s components are exhibited with the use of modern display practices. A substantial part of the vessel dates from her working life (1869 to 1922). Despite suffering serious fire damage in 2008 she remains over 90 per cent original upon completion of the project.
Lorne Stewart Engineering provided the mechanical and electrical services for the ship as well as the ongoing maintenance for the facility. The on board works have been carefully co-ordinated providing a sympathetic and careful refurbishment and installation.

Llanelli Theatre Works Project 2

This theatre is part of the new-build cultural and creative centre in Llanelli incorporating the renovation of two Grade II listed buildings, Zion Chapel and the Old School. The designs have been centred on the need to safeguard the special architectural and historical interest of both buildings to ensure their future and to blend with the new-build. Special wheelchair-friendly flooring is being installed in the fly-tower which will allow disabled people the opportunity to be trained and gain employment as lighting and backstage technicians.

The project included plans for a new leisure centre which included an eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool and a thermal suite as well as a sports hall, a fitness suite, dance studios, a youth gym and a 167 space car park.

Royal Theatre, Newcastle

Theatre Royal, Newcastle is one of the most famous theatres in the country and in its 170 year history has played host to the biggest names in dance, drama, music and comedy. Opened in February 1837, this Grade I listed building remains one of the most historic, cultural landmarks in the country and continues to dominate the heart of Newcastle’s Grainger Town.
Refurbishment of the Theatre Royal included: the existing café area and old Barclays Bank building were converted into a new booking office, café area and office space. The existing Mechanical and Electrical services were modified or replaced. The stage area was extended and a new fly tower installed, associated new power and lighting to these installed.

A development for Sandwell Leisure Trust, this new health and wellbeing facility provides a hydrotherapy pool, indoor climbing wall, dance studio, meeting rooms, café, sports hall, changing villages and 3G football pitches. The project also includes a GP surgery.

Lorne Stewart Cardiff were pleased to be part of the restoration of the Grade II listed arts and crafts style lido in Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd during 2014/15, which included the renovation of the original turnstiles and wooden cubicles. The refurbishment comprised three pools; a main, an activities and a paddling pool and will also be known as the National Lido of Wales.
The Lido also boasts a café, community hub centre and an adventure playground. It is the only outdoor water attraction and play area in Wales.
